Happy New Year! Hello 2019

Happy New Year 2019

So here we are – another year. The Christmas 2018 celebrations are over, there’s been plenty of shopping, visiting friends and family, spending time with loved ones, drinking and eating.

We’ve reflected on events of the past year, made resolutions for the year ahead and set goals or decided on what we hope to achieve in the year ahead. Each new year is a chance for us to do as good as or better than the year before. It is good to have plans and goals so that we know where we would like our lives to go, what we want to achieve and what we must do to get there.

In life generally, there is always a never-ending list of things to do. As we get older life seems to pass by faster. We should therefore make it a point to take time out to find occasions to celebrate or to just enjoy the moment – no matter how small. It’s OK to want more than we have actually got, but we should also take the time to and appreciate what we have and the people who matter to us.

I appreciate the fact that I had the chance to physically create this website from scratch. It might not seem like much to others but for me it has been an achievement. It has been a long and slow process, I have had a lot to learn and I am still learning. This site is still in it’s early stages. As much as I would like to say that I am hoping that this year I will be creating posts on a regular basis, I do not want this blog to become a chore. I enjoy writing content for people to read – no matter how trivial it may seem. I also enjoy working behind the scenes on the website. If I can provide someone with a light-hearted read or provide useful information during their commute, their lunch time break or their leisure time, then that is enough to satisfy me.

My New Year’s resolution for this website/blog is as follows: Rather than putting pressure on myself and overwhelming myself by committing to regular blog posts, this year I have decided that I am going to be flexible and spontaneous. The posts will continue to be irregular the moment hopefully in time there will be more of them. Having said that, the name for this site is therefore definitely appropriate – An Occasional blog.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read this blog, whether you stumbled across this site unintentionally or whether you made a conscious decision to keep coming back to this site to see what is new.

Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a “Happy New Year” and I wish well in your New Year endeavours.

It’s Christmas Season!

For many people, Christmas is regarded as the most magical time of the year. Seasonal sights sounds and smells transform the end of each year to a cheery Christmas ambience.

This website is about celebrating the good things and moments in life.

Hooray for summer holidays!

The big challenge now - as always - is: What can we do this summer? How can we keep the kids or ourselves amused or busy?

My momentous birthday

May 19th 2018, a date I will never forget. It was the day I celebrated my birthday and it was the day that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married. For me it was therefore a double celebration.

The forthcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is much like a fairy tale wedding. Most girls have fantasized about being a Princess - even if it was just for one special day.
